Thank you for your support of Integra Center, and your interest in elevating the conversation around comprehensive care for the men and women who have sacrificed in service to our country. As we begin the journey to a new level of commitment and services, we are happy to announce we are moving our name and all that it stands for to a new home with the establishment of
INTEGRA CENTER AT VANC
As you know, Integra Center’s proposal to the Navy to open a “One Place” comprehensive care center represented a bold, innovative approach to care for active-duty military, veterans and civilians suffering from loss of limbs and/or serious traumatic brain injuries. For more than four years, the board, leadership, and community partners of Integra Center have unified the community, Navy, service members, and our elected leaders around aiding the unmet needs of wounded warriors with complex, serious injuries.
Despite unwavering support from our community, with no official response to Integra Center’s proffer to the Secretary of the Navy, Integra Center’s board has made the difficult decision to rescind its proffer and take the necessary steps to cease operations starting August 1.
Please be assured, this decision does not reflect a lack of belief in the concept of a “One Place” center, but rather the reality of the challenges faced when linking the public and private sectors, and working through multiple, complex layers of government, including the Department of Defense.
In light of the decision to dissolve, we are happy to announce we are moving our name and all that it stands for to a new home with the establishment of
“Integra Center at VANC.” Our idea to create a comfortable and inviting place where combat-injured warriors from Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom can gather and connect was immediately embraced by the leadership of Veterans Association of North County (VANC). VANC is able to provide all local vets (and the organizations that serve them) with a place to meet, to find support, and to facilitate referrals to community resources. VANC is a like-minded organization with a long history of collaboration with many nonprofit organizations serving veterans and active-duty military in North San Diego County, the same spirit of collaboration that Integra Center embodied. While the dream of our new facility is not moving forward today as envisioned, we are happy that VANC will be providing some of the desired services at their North County location of 1617 Mission Ave, Oceanside, CA 92058.
On behalf of Integra Center and the entire board of directors, we want to thank you again for your support of our organization.
